About Little Dandelion Press

At Little Dandelion Press, we believe every child deserves to see the story.

Founded by a mother and advocate in the Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) community, Little Dandelion Press was created out of one simple but powerful idea: books should meet children where they are. Especially children with visual impairments, sensory needs, and developmental differences—who are so often overlooked in traditional publishing.

We design each of our books to be inclusive, accessible, and joyful from the very first page. That means:

  • High-contrast visuals and uncluttered layouts to support visual access
  • Real-world images to build recognition, curiosity, and connection
  • Rhythmic, repetitive language to engage early learners and build confidence
  • Developmentally appropriate pacing to support shared reading and emergent literacy

Little Dandelion Press was born from one mom’s mission to help her daughter with CVI connect with books in a way that made sense for her brain and her joy. That mission continues to bloom—one accessible page at a time.

Why the Dandelion?

The dandelion is more than a flower—it’s a symbol of everything we believe in:

🌼 Hope & Wishes
Blowing on a dandelion puff and making a wish is a nearly universal childhood ritual. It reminds us of dreams, potential, and the magic that lives inside every child.

🌿 Resilience & Strength
Dandelions thrive in tough conditions—growing through concrete, bouncing back after being cut, and standing tall in unexpected places. Just like the kids and families we serve.

🌞 Joy & Innocence
Its bright yellow bloom reflects sunshine, happiness, and the unfiltered joy of childhood.

Transformation & Growth
From golden flower to wispy puff to scattered seeds, dandelions model the beauty of change. Our books celebrate the growth, learning, and transformation of young minds.

🌬️ Freedom & Letting Go
When the wind carries dandelion seeds, they become symbols of imagination, discovery, and possibility—just like stories do.

📚 In Children's Literature, the dandelion represents:

  • The power of storytelling
  • The joy of curiosity
  • The strength of inclusive design
  • And the belief that every child belongs in the story

At Little Dandelion Press, we’re proud to partner with families, therapists, and educators who know that inclusive books aren't just helpful—they're essential. Our mission is to make beautiful, developmentally informed books that children of all abilities can see, enjoy, and grow with.

Let’s build a more inclusive world—one accessible book at a time.
