Summer is...

By Amy Shepherd, M.Ed.

Summer is… a joyful celebration of warm days, bright sunshine, and playful outdoor fun.
From splashing in the pool and sliding into cool water to buzzing bees, wagging dogs, and colorful snack carts, this book brings summer’s lively spirit to life with clear, vivid images and simple, rhythmic text.

Designed with visual accessibility in mind — including thoughtful support for children with Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) — each page highlights a single, meaningful summertime scene on an uncluttered background. The steady layout, bright focal points, and consistent visual structure help young readers pause, look, and connect with familiar summer experiences.

Whether tossing beachballs, floating on a raft, walking a loyal dog along the path, or sitting by a crackling campfire as fireflies drift by, Summer is… invites children to explore the season through sensory joy and early concept learning.

A perfect companion for families, educators, therapists, and anyone who loves summer’s bright magic.
